Teledyne Gavia provides turnkey survey solutions to customers undertaking a variety of tasks for military, comme​rcial and scientific applications​. The Gavia AUV can carry an array of sensors and custom payload modules that make it an optimal solution for any research, monitoring or surveillance task where autonomy, cost and ease of deployment matters. Its modular design allows for rapid sensor reconfiguration and battery replacement. Teledyne Gavia is the sole owner of the Gavia, Osprey, and SeaRaptor design and IP rights, and controls the development, production, and marketing of all three systems. 

The Gavia AUV was originally developed in 1997 when the Gavia program was started as a joint development with the University of Iceland. First sales of the Gavia vehicle occurred in 2000 to domestic customers in Iceland. In 2007 Hafmynd received the prestigious Icelandic Innovation Award from The Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannís) and the Trade Council of Iceland. 

In 2010, Teledyne purchased the Gavia vehicle from Hafmynd, ehf. Teledyne Gavia is now a member of Teledyne Marine in the Teledyne Marine Vehicles technology vertical. The group includes Teledyne Gavia, Teledyne Benthos, Teledyne SeaBotix, Teledyne Oc​eanscience, and Teledyne Webb Research
 

Since joining the Teledyne Marine family, Teledyne Gavia has also added the Osprey AUV and SeaRaptor AUV product lines.
